For the record, I'd like to state that tonight's season finale of Lost was the best.finale.ever.
It had its moments of devastating sadness, a happy ending, tons of answers... and of course, tons more questions.
I will NOT be able to contain myself until the next season. BRING IT!!

wanna know more about hair?
A friend of mine is writing for about.com. How cool is that?!
Kendra just graduated from Capri College of Cosmetology in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and currently works full time as a cosmetologist at Village Hair Design in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Check out her wisdom on fashion and hair care.

the four agreements
It has been a long time since I read this little book, but I thought its main premises worth mentioning.
1. Be Impeccable With Your Word
2. Don't Take Anything Personally
3. Don't Make Assumptions
4. Always Do Your Best

the world is getting smaller
So with the proliferation of social networking sites such as Myspace and Facebook, it seems as if I am finding people from my past easily. A few years ago I would go through this phase of needing to make contact with people I had left behind in South Africa, but with no clue how to go about it. There were several friends who had made a significant impact on my life, and we'd lost contact as we finished high school and moved on with our lives on completely different continents in completely different hemispheres.
The irony is that up to age 15 I had never considered myself a candidate for being one of those people who came and went with such amazing ease in our young lives, soon to be a vague memory in the history of our childhood. And yet I ended up being one of those people.
During the 90's I would go through phases of missing my South African home and life and the people, where I was consumed with the need to find out what people had done with their lives, who they were still in contact with, and where they had ended up. And always I would feel helpless. I had no idea how to begin.
Then I started my blogging and with blogging came an introduction to Myspace and then Facebook, which I have to say I infinitesimally prefer. I find the layout clean and mostly user-friendly, more so than Myspace in my opinion, and it is easier to see what my friends and family are up to - and I love that!I can now chat with my cousins in SA, or catch up with my two sisters of which neither one is living in Illinois.
Now I'm making contact with people I never, ever thought I would talk to again. I have found the people whom I was wondering about, and even though the influence of physical distance and time has changed our friendships from what they were when we were children and young teens, I find it comforting that my past has come full circle and I have made peace with the life I left behind.
I do think though, of how different the world is these days - how small the world is becoming and how much easier it is to stay in contact. I wonder how it all compares - with my parents' young adulthood experiences to my own to future generations' experiences. How will Facebook and Myspace influence future society and social relationships?

Back in the saddle...
It has been way too long since I blogged properly. So much has happened since last August that there is no way I can catch up, but forgive me and we can get back on track from here on out.
I am working on revamping my blog a little and sprucing it up. Stay tuned!
The latest project I have been working on is my photography. I have been working for a photography business as production manager and also as an independent photographer for the past few years. While I'm still working for the business primarily, I am also taking steps to develop my skills and my own clientele. I love taking photographs and the challenges that come with shooting both people and, well, non-people.
Check out my new blog and feel free to contact me if you have any questions!
